UAE Visa exemptions
We are delighted to inform you that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that citizens of the following 13 European Union member states, who hold ordinary passports, are now also eligible for visas on arrival to the UAE with effect from 22nd March 2014.
Nationals of the following countries will receive visa on arrival: Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Malta, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria.
The duration of stay for all nationals entering with a visa on arrival remains 30 days from the date of entry. The duration of stay is non-extendible thereafter.
Please kindly update your records and inform all concerned accordingly. In the event any visas have already been applied or issued for any of the above nationalities, those charges are of course non-refundable.
Please note we have recently been advised by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) of the introduction of a Tourism Dirham charge to be applied to hotel guests, staying in any type of hotel establishment, including hotels, hotel apartments, guest houses and holiday homes within the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This fee will be levied per occupied room or bedroom per night, it is not charged based on the number of guests staying in a room, suite or villa. The charge will be represented as a separate line item in the guest?s bill. The municipality fee and service charge will not be levied on this fee.
The Tourism Dirham will be introduced from 31st March 2014 and will be collected from all guests by the hotels upon check-out. Hotel establishments will provide guests upon check-in a notification stipulating the introduction of the Tourism Dirham Fee and its collection upon check-out. The note will also confirm the applicable charge per room/bedroom per night.
Effective from 31st March 2014, all guests staying at Dubai hotels, hotel apartments, guests house or holiday home will be subject to the Tourism Dirham fee.
The fees are as follows:
AED 20.00 per room or bedroom per night for stays in 5 star hotels and Deluxe hotel apartments
AED 15.00 per room or bedroom per night for stays in 4 star hotels, Superior hotel apartments and Deluxe Holiday home
AED 10.00 per room or bedroom per night for stays in 3 and 2 star hotels, Standard hotel apartments and Standard Holiday home
AED 7.00 per room or bedroom per night for stays in 1 star hotel and Guest house.
The Tourism Dirham fee will apply for all stays from 31st March 2014 onwards. Existing bookings paid and reported before 23rd February 2014 for stays prior to 1st June 2014 will be exempted from fee.
The fee is payable for all type of stays, including and non-limited to commercial, complimentary, promotional, upgrades, short stays or day use but excludes late check-out.
